Wedding BBQ Catering, Done the Way Sarasota and Venice Couples Want It

There is a particular kind of couple getting married along the Sarasota-to-Venice stretch of the Gulf Coast. They have been to the conventional weddings — the plated chicken, the room-temperature salmon, the buffet that everyone forgets by the time the band starts. They want their wedding to feel like them: relaxed, generous, a little unexpected, and built around food guests actually talk about. That is exactly the couple we cook for.

BBQ Art Co. is a North Port-based artisan smokehouse on wheels, and in June 2026 we swept our division at the regional BBQ competition at Loaded Cannon Distillery in Lakewood Ranch — taking Best BBQ Overall, People's Choice, and 1st Place Ribs. We carry a 5.0-star rating across 67 Google reviews. We bring that same competition-grade cooking to wedding receptions across Sarasota County and Venice, and we do it with a method most caterers can't match: hardwood smoke, finished sous vide.

Why "Smoke, Then Sous Vide" Matters at a Wedding

The biggest fear couples have about wedding BBQ is the worst-case version of it: dry, crumbling brisket sitting under a heat lamp, the last guests served getting the saddest plate. Our method exists specifically to eliminate that.

Every cut starts over real hardwood — low and slow — until the bark sets, the smoke ring develops, and the deep flavor that no shortcut can fake works its way into the meat. Then the protein finishes sous vide: vacuum-sealed and held at a precise temperature that locks in every bit of moisture and rendered fat. When we arrive at your Sarasota or Venice venue, the brisket slices cleanly, the juice releases under gentle pressure, and the bark holds its texture through the entire service window. Guest number two and guest number two hundred get the same plate. That consistency is the whole game at wedding scale, and it is why our food reads as elegant rather than casual.

Sarasota and Venice Venues We Love

Sarasota County gives couples an enormous range of settings, and BBQ service adapts beautifully to nearly all of them.

In Sarasota, the Lakewood Ranch and University Town Center corridor has become a hub for weddings at country clubs, event barns, and waterfront clubs. These venues tend to have the event infrastructure — power, prep space, generous service footprints — that makes large-guest-count BBQ service smooth. A carved brisket station at a formal Sarasota country club reception is one of our favorite things to set up: the surprise of competition-level BBQ in a polished setting is its own gift to your guests. Downtown Sarasota and the Bayfront also host private-dining and rooftop receptions where a focused two-protein spread works perfectly.

In Venice, the feel is more intimate. The Venice Yacht Club on the Intracoastal, the golf and country clubs in the interior, and the Gulf-front beach ceremonies at Venice Beach and Caspersen draw couples who want personality over production. BBQ belongs here. We have set up everything from full reception buffets to relaxed rehearsal-dinner spreads at Venice's craft-brewery and waterfront spaces, and the unhurried, communal nature of great BBQ matches the town's character exactly.

Wherever your venue sits between these two — Nokomis, Osprey, Laurel, South Venice, the Palmer Ranch corridor — tell us. We have most likely cooked nearby, and we will confirm the setup specifics in our first reply.

Building a Wedding Menu That Works

A wedding menu does not need to be sprawling to be excellent. A few principles we apply every time:

Two proteins cover the room. Brisket paired with pulled pork satisfies almost every palate — guests who want richness take the beef, guests who want something lighter pull toward the pork. For more casual receptions or a late-night station, our certified organic chicken wings make a fantastic third protein.

Four scratch-made sides finish the plate. Our Russian coleslaw, smoked baked beans, mac and cheese, and cornbread are all made fresh for every single service — nothing opened from a can, nothing reheated from yesterday. The coleslaw deserves special mention: its bright, dill-forward, vinaigrette style cuts straight through the richness of the brisket and resets the palate, which is exactly why it is the side guests ask about most.

A BBQ Sundae station adds a moment. Our signature BBQ Sundae layers smoked protein, sides, and sauce in a cup — a playful, memorable format guests love for sampling a little of everything.

You can see what we are currently featuring on the full menu, and our catering page walks through service formats and quantities in more detail.

Planning Timeline and Booking

Peak wedding season on the Gulf Coast runs October through May, with January through March the most competitive months for venues, photographers, and caterers alike. We are a single-truck, owner-operated kitchen led by pitmaster Arthur "Art" Gumirov — which is precisely why the quality stays consistent, and also why our calendar holds a finite number of dates each week.

For a spring-season Saturday in Sarasota or Venice, reach out 12 to 18 months ahead. Off-peak summer dates and weekday celebrations carry far more flexibility. The couples who get the date they want are simply the ones who book early.

Let's Talk About Your Date

The food is supposed to do one thing above all: bring people together. Great BBQ is communal and joyful in a way formal plated service rarely manages — guests gather at the station, linger at the table, and remember the night.

If you are planning a wedding anywhere from Sarasota to Venice, we would love to be part of it.
